I Cry When Google Tries to Brainwash Me
I still think that I should drop Adsense, and remove Google as my homepage, but somehow I just keep coming back for more..and more….and more. Google is just an overbearing entity that is trying to control my blog. When I first decided to make an Adsense blog I was always “Yes Google”, or “Yes Master” “what can I do for you all mighty Google”
Now all I can think is “alright, Google, WTF do you want me to do now?”
I think that the people at Google just sit around all day and try to figure out ways to screw the little man, and try to find a way to usurp Disney’s “Ruler of the World” throne . If it is not one thing it is another. I mean, I am not really that great at monetizing a blog, and every time I see a new way to maybe earn some cash with this blog, I learn that Google Adsense’ TOS does not allow me to use that “system” in conjunction with Adsense.
Of course whenever I drop the Adsense from this blog I always get a barrage of comments and emails that ask “Where is the Adsense? This blog is called Living on Adsense, you can’t call it that unless you are actually living on adsense.
You see the situation I am in? I try to please my readers by adding Adsense to my blog, but then I cannot use too many other monetization models. Then if I drop Adsense I can use other methods of making money, but people invariable pressure me into ‘adding the sense’ back to my blog. Maybe I should grow a backbone and just do what I want to do, of course I would have to stop drinking first.
And I am not giving up the bottle…
I did a post earlier explain how the title “Living on Adsense” is a metaphor for the fact that the average person cannot actually earn a living from Adsense. I am the poster boy for not making any money with Adsense. Across all of my blogs I only made around $100 since starting this blog in December 2007. The horrible part is that I haven’t even seen any of that money yet because Google has not sent me my PIN number to verify my account and address yet. I have already asked them to resend, and I have gotten nothing.
I think what all this comes down to is that I am not experienced enough yet to begin really monetizing my blog. I use Adsense across all of my blogs, and all I can seem to make in a month is $20. I get responses from people all the time saying that I need to toss in some affiliate links on my blog, and then I will start to make some good money. I just seem to have a few issues with referring people to products and services that I have never used, and I do not have the time or the money to test out all the products that I could be promoting across all of my blogs. I really think that in order for me to make some money on this blog I have to add monetization methods that depend on me, as opposed to my readers. I think that specifically for this blog I will have to do the work, I cannot really on you as the reader to click on my ads, buy products through my affilate links. And why? Because you have your own blog with your own links and Adsense units to worry about. In fact that’s it. For me to make money on this blog I have to do the work, I can’t really on user related methods, it has to be something I do myself.
Now I just have to figure out what that is…

Hey, that’s pretty good if you’ve made $100 already and you just started in Dec’07. It took me three years to earn a hundred on my mommy blog. lol!
Since I actually started seeing some $$ in my account though, I’ve been addicted to trying to earn more money online. I’ll be following how you do and take some tips from you
JMom’s last blog post..LOST
@JMom: If you decide to follow me and take some tips, remember to take them with a grain of salt. I am no where near successful and most of my ideas are in fact just that…ideas.
I blog and give advice based on my experiences, and so far…not so good
Welcome to LOA, I look forward to hearing of your blogging success@
These people who tell you to just toss in some affiliate links so you can make some money…..punch them in the mouth.
It’s not even close to that easy but that’s why 2 billion Make Money Bloggers start Make Money blogs everyday. They think it’s easy even though they don’t know a damn thing about what they are talking about.
Making money online is HARD.

I do enjoy a good “mouth punching” once and a while!
LoL I love the “Yes Master” part
Unfortunately, I had the same feeling when I first came to this blog “Living on ADSENSE”
Thought you make a living from AdSense and sharing the secrets on this blog!

Okay, here’s what you do…keep the domain, on your header add in big bold letters “NOT” after the “living on adsense” part and proceed to knock adsense down to the gutter, much like the “google sucks” sites. Monetize any way you want then, and don’t forget to write some uber inflammatory articles about how adsense sucks, that should help!
Get readers here on the idea that it will be a blog about living on adsense and then pull the rug out from under them, all the while laughing to the bank.
*evil grin*
I think you blog too little as it is.
@Michael Aulia: I do make a Living on Adsense (not a good one), it’s just that I don’t have any secrets to share. If I had them I would share…
@shanker bakshi: Thanks for “dropping” by.
@deadendsally: Do I do the rug pulling before or after the mouth punching?
Chris, how about WidgetBucks? Have you tried them yet? I’ve been earning almost twice as much with WidgetBucks compared to AdSense. Plus, the ads are optimized for WordPress, Blogger, and even TypePad. Check out this WidgetBucks review for some more info.
