The Ballad of Friday Past: A Bloggers Downfall

.
Some of you may be wondering what happened to the “Living on Adsense Magic.” I had been sharing my Google Adsense journey quite consistently by posting daily. Well, during the work week anyway, I get weekends off.
.
But for some reason it seems that I took an entire week off.
.
Yes it’s true I did take a week off. I took it off due to an extreme case of betrayal.

.
I have a personal motto that is as follows: There are only 2 people you can trust your Mom and Yourself. Last Friday I had to remove someone from that list, and it was not my Mom.
.
I can no longer trust myself. Last Friday as I was working on my blog post for the day, a certain body part of mine decided that it did not want to be “part of the team” anymore and exploded. This is why I have not posted last week and may not continue posting until I have fully recovered. Although, I had no real need for my appendix, it was sad to see that one of my own organs would choose to betray me in such a painful way.
.
Here is the post that I was writing as my appendix ruptured. I haven’t really edited it ( like usual), so please enjoy it in it’s natural form:
.
Do I rank high on Google? No
Do I make a lot of money from my blog? No
Do I spend a most of your day trying to get exposure to my blog? No.
Should I listen your advice? No
.
I do not make a ton of money from my blog, I couldn’t pay my rent in December and most likely I will not be able to pay it in January. So, even though I am dispensing blogging advice- Do not Listen to me. Do you really think I know what I am talking about. It’s usually hit or miss. So should you listen to the blogging gurus? Yes and No.
.
Take everyones suggestions and advice on how to create your blog with a grain of salt, but in the end: Do what ever you want. If you create a “cookie cutter” blog that is just like some of the top blogs out their. If you follow their advice and do what they say, you know what. You will probably be just a successful as me.
.
And I am not a good standard to measure up against. I can’t pay rent remember?
.
I just think that if you recreate someone else’s blog you will get bored of it because the blog is not you. Create the blog for you first. If you enjoy writing it, only then will you be successful. If writing your blog becomes a painful obligation, then stop and try something different. Create a blog you love. I enjoy my blog, and that is why I write in it.
.
Here is what I love doing: Suggest that you should not do something, then go ahead and suggest the opposite.
.
This is a personal philosophy I have been following since high school, I call it the “Bar of Soap” Theory. If you wash with bar soap you should understand this. After many uses a bar of soap becomes to small to be used effectively. Instead of tossing this ineffective soap into the garbage quite often people will save this little nugget of soap. Once you have saved up a few of these soap nuggets, they can be pressed together to form a new functional bar of soap.
.
Here is how I use the Bar of Soap Theory in blogging: I take all the advice about blogging that I read, no matter where it came from. Guru or Rookie, it doesn’t matter. Once I have read all of these bits of advice and ideas that other bloggers have, I compile them all together to create a worth while bit of knowledge that I can apply to my own blog.
.
The moral of this post is:
Be unique in your blog. Take other peoples blogging advice and then apply the knowledge they have given you with your own ideas and unique perspectives.

  1. Sorry to hear about your appendix

But soon you’ll be rich enough to be able to purchase a new one, or just outsource its purpose. Wait, what is it used for? Oh, right, appendix is that chapter at the end of the book ;)

    Hope you’re doing better

  2. Get well soon and get back to blogging!

Your blog is very nice and it’s one of the few that I regularly comment on. Hope you come back in a few days and that you start earning some REAL money here!

    :)

  3. Thanks for the support guys!
It’s always nice to have your friends and family tell you to get better, but I think it always means more when people you barely know offer up kind words and support.

    So again, Thank you.
