The Meanest Mom on the Planet Teaches Her Son a Serious Lesson
As a kid growing up, I thought that my Mom was the meanest Mom on the planet. I bet you thought your Mom was mean. They always claimed that they did it because they “love you.”
.
And most of the time the were right, they knew better and you didn’t.
.
I found an interesting story of a woman by the name of Jane Hambleton, who has dubbed herself the “Meanest Mom on the Planet.” Although she has given herself this prestigious title, I would have to say that she is quite the opposite considering what she has done.
.
This Mean Mom recently found a bottle of alcohol in her sons car. I can imagine this being a shock to any parent, especially since we figured that we taught our kids to know better. Drinking and driving ads are all over the media, yet still it doesn’t always hit home for some kids.
.
After finding the bottle, Jane decided to teach her son a serious lesson about drinking and driving- by placing an ad in this local paper:
.
OLDS 1999 Intrigue. Totally uncool parents who obviously don’t love teenage son, selling his car. Only driven for three weeks before snoopy mom who needs to get a life found booze under front seat. $3,700/offer. Call meanest mom on the planet.
.
“The ad cost a fortune, but you know what? I’m telling people what happened here,” Hambleton states. “I’m not just gonna put the car for resale when there’s nothing wrong with it, except the driver made a dumb decision.”
.
Besides hearing from prospective buyers, Hambleton fielded over 70 congratulatory phone calls from various people that saw the ad. She stated that when she purchased the car for her son in November she gave him two simple rules:
.
- No booze
- Always keep it locked
.Although her son claims that the bottle was left by a passenger, the Mean Mom has taught her son a serious lesson regarding the severity if drinking and driving; or allowing open alcohol in a vehicle.
.
The car has been sold but the Hambleton has decided to keep the ad up for another week to encourage more feedback.
.
“It’s overwhelming the number of calls I’ve gotten from people saying ‘Thank you, it’s nice to see a responsible parent.’ So far there are no calls from anyone saying, ‘You’re really strict. You’re real overboard, lady.’”
.
The Mom has taught her son a lesson he will never forget.
.

wow, are you trying to seo Meanest Mom?
))))))))))))
I know it is not my usual style and type of post but, it’s a story that hits extremely close to home for me and I wanted to share it with as many people as possible.
I think this women is a great example to other parents, and teaches a lesson about drinking driving in a way that will not be forgotten. She may have saved several lives by doing this.
It looks like it, Gil! hahaha
Great piece, my son just started driving as well, and the ramifications are just as severe if it was the passengers.
hi…how are you Chriss..nice post !! always fun to visit your blog !!
I think I love The “meanest” mom on the planet! I would have done something severe too, although the creativeness of an ad like that, is golden. Cool blog btw.
LOL.
If I ever have kids, and buy them cars, I will probably be very sure to use that tactic.
How very original. I would also call in and applaud that mother, if I was in the States.
