You Can Call Him Shoemoney -I Will Call Him “Adsense Master” Moby

First off, I would like to apologize for yesterdays post. I was out of blogging practice and then I started getting angry about what I was writing. It was horrid. Don’t read it. Despite the horrid post, somehow I managed to acquire 8 new subscribers to my blog. I am sure they all will be gone by tomorrow as I will manage to bore or offend someone somehow.

.

Alright so let’s get back to the wonderful world of Google Adsense. As most of you know I quit my job and I started my Google Adsense “career” in mid December. During this time my main concern was trying to make enough money from Google Adsense to pay my rent. As per some of my previous posts, we all knew that it was an impossibility for me to achieve to kind of results that were needed for me to make enough money to pay my rent with half a month of experience with blogging and Google Adsense.

.

Well we were all wrong! Take a look at the photo of me holding my Google Adsense cheque…

.

That’s a cheque for $132,994.97! I can pay rent a few hundred times over…I am the Google Adsense Master! I’m the king of the World! Wooooooohoooooo!.

Ok, so the perceptive people have noticed something odd about “my” cheque.

.

  1. The date is September 27th 2005
  2. The guy in the picture is not me.

.

And although you may be like me and at first glance thought “Hey I didn’t know that Moby was a Google Adsense Master.” It isn’t Moby either.

It is a guy named “ShoeMoney,” well actually his real name is Jeremy Schoemaker, but he goes by ShoeMoney. As you can see, he knows his Adsense, or at least he did in 2005. I was enlightened about the existence of this “ShoeMoney” from a reader of my blog that left a comment in response to my plans of Living of Adsense that went something like:

“Adsense is not something to live on unless you are ShoeMoney”

.

That line seemed very cryptic, so I went ahead and Googled “ShoeMoney” and managed to find www.shoemoney.com. Now I am not going to go on and on about ShoeMoney because you can head over to his site and check it out for yourself. I will however bring your attention to a post he made about having an Edge.

.

It really got me thinking of whether or not I have an “Edge;” if I stand out from some of the blogs that are kicking around on the web. I know a lot of my early posts I created in December were quite creative and funny. At least I thought they were. Of course Edge or no Edge I still did manage to make some money in my first month of Blogging with Google Adsense. The final total I made from Adsense in December was a whopping $30.56.

.

So here is my question…

.

Is $30 in the first month of Adsense earnings an average amount? below or above average?

.

Do I have an “Edge” or am I just going to get lost in the sea of bloggers?

.

How long can I go avoiding my landlord?

  2. I gotta say I like this blog. It’s simple and honest and mirrors what I have been going through since 97.Adsense is not bad as a filler (weekend job if you will),but a major earner I have yet to see.Now that I have said that and I can appreciate the fact that you REALLY need the money now here is an idea.
Take on Friend finder as a sponsor. Not adultfriendfinder (same guys different venue).Firstly they are honest and pay weekly.
Second, some of their programs are ppc which I would suggest.
With a little traffic you could easily do $50.00 per week.
Next, add shareasale.com with a bunch of sponsor opportunities.
Longer term but money all the same.Last, you need a top of page adsense banner.Trust me on this.11-14 % ctr on that spot.I make about a solid 2-3 hundred a month from adsense and have 8 blogs.Good luck.

  3. He also posted later a screenshot of his adsense report for that month. He got permissions from google to do that, so he wouldn’t violate their tos.

It’s something to hope for, that eCPM of his :)

  4. I think 30$ in first month is great… Was it all from this site!?

  5. I can only guess and say that probably 80% of it came from here and the other 20% from my other blog: http://www.topwarcraftguides.com

I [unfortunately] did not start tracking the Adsense through channels until the end of December.

  6. I would say $30 for first month actually above average actually. If you look around on the internet most people only make about $10 a month, some never go much higher as they lack the traffic to bring in a substancial amount of money. But if you keep working on your sites and expanding them with more pages you will see your Adsense earnings increase. That ShoeMoney check is awsome, thats my goal as is for everyone I imagine :-) Well great site I like it, and good luck with Adsense.

    Sincerely,

    Jamie Boyle

  7. I have to hand it to you, that is quite impressive for your first month. I haven’t managed that after 6 months even. How did you get the initial traffic?

  8. That was good result for the first month. I do not count myself as successful yet.

  9. David,

In regards to your question about traffic, all I really do is participate in some Social Networking communities such as MyBlogLog, Blog Catalog etc.

Other than that I don’t really do much. As I learn more I will post updates on my blog.

  10. [...] seems like everyone always tries to emulate the successful bloggers, such as John Chow and ShoeMoney, but really do we need another duplicate blog kicking around? I admit that I read those blogs on [...]

  11. [...] compared to some other blogger’s income was really good, but really it wasn’t enough to pay the rent. Month number two was about the same as the first, but heading into month 3 I see that I may have [...]

  12. Hey Blogger , I like a lot your blog post expecially the article for adsense traffic and your post regarding , it looks very interesting. Nice to share it with us. I found you on Ask Jeeves while searching for adsense traffic . I just Digged it on Monday so will notice also an increase of blog traffic in exchange.
